Joseph Wybran, the
leader of the Jewish community in Belgium was shot to death. Several
organizations claimed responsibility for the attack, among them the
Soldiers of Justice in Beirut. It was claimed that the attack was a
retaliation for the assassination of an FRC member. Another possibility
is that the FRC carried out the attack at Iran's behest, in view of the
relations of the FRC and Teheran. A group calling itself Direct Revenge
also took responsibility.
